few pics of my new purchase. Bought as a rolling project, few things failed at mot but nothing terrible, and just a good valet and a little tlc required. One owner from new. Very pleased with myself, drives lovely.

Well the mot placebi use only do mots and they picked up very little, plus I paid very little for it compare to its true value, so not fussed if it costs me a few quid.

Very nice.

If its going to sit outside through the winter, then get a decent vented cover for it - worth every penny if plan to keep it long term.

If it is going to be a some time until you do the rust give it a good covering of oil to a least stop it getting more rusty. Nice looking always wanted a 5 speed.

Its sitting away from the elements in my mechanics workshop for the next month while i am in saudi arabia having the stuff for the mot and the door dent sorted out, then if the roads are'nt covered in salt i will use it for the week i am back at the start of november then back in the garage to get the rest of the little bits sorting till christmas when i am back again, a good cover is top of my buy list, unfortunately the garage i rent currently has my haynes roadster kit car in, definately a keeper.

Strip it. It'll be rotten as a pear. Do a proper job on getting the rot cut out, it is a lovely car and worth restoring properly...

Lordy lordy glass half empty in this forum eh. Its a rolling project, it has been cherished by its one and only owner, its a mini of course there will be some rust, but on close inspection in surprisingly good fettle rust wise for a late bacofoil steel mini.

Born out of experience I'm afraid. If the upper shock mounts in the rear a fubar'd, they'll be loads more rot hidden. You'll find we are generally a friendly bunch hehe

Nice looking car, but as others have said looks can be deceiving with these. I too have first hand experience with this, the mrs car was 9 years old before we took it off the road, every panel inside and out bar the bulkhead had rust

Have to agree. I am restoring an RSP which was in "good" condition, and has turned into Triggers Broom when it comes to body repairs.

I think the roof was sound but that's about it !

If you are going to refurb/restore though, what a great car on which to do it.

Definitely to be driven, life is too short. It took me over 20 years to find and then buy back the car I bought new in 1990 but then sold. It ain't going to sit in the garage all year !

Look forward to seeing it at a few events in 2014 !

Nice car and what I wouldn't give for the extra gear. I think all Minis are rolling projects. Just spend over 6k on mine getting panels replaced but I have no intention of letting the car go so a long term investment for me.

Definitely agree get out there and use it rather than having it locked away most of the year. Mines a daily drive and is probably already beginning to rust all over again. What the hell they are there to have fun and drive.

With the extra gear and horsepower, its the car they should have mass produced, it really doe feel very accomplished on the motorway and overtaking, most unmini like.

Looks like a good base for a resto.. Be a shame to have a 5spd being broken in couple years...

As suggested oil and wax it...
