Gearbox judder

Can anybody help me

I own a Morris Oxford
Year 1968 manual

When I pull away in 1st 2nd or put it in reverse it judders like mad

3rd 4th ok don't judder

Its my first classic car I've owned so new to it all

Please help

id say its probably oil on the clutch, or a weak clutch spring

I'm afraid I'm old enough to remember working on these when they weren't very old.

Probably clutch plate contaminated with oil, but they were prone to engine and gearbox mounting failure, so check these first.

They also have a longitudinal torque stay under the gearbox around the area of the crossmember to prevent judder (they were prone to this), check that this and its bushes are intact.
