but it was supposed to be a 90hp conversion though right? or not? I've always seen it referred to as a 90hp JCW conversion
JC kit never makes its claimed power outputs -every time I've seen them in rolling road shootouts they fall well below 90bhp - usually 78ish as said above, that also goes for the new mini kit - usualy well short of 200 bhp when other standard MINI cooper s's are making 170ish bhp on the same rollers on the same day, as has been mentioned before.
IIRC the only classic MPI 90bhp kit which actually makes 90 bhp is the minispeed kit?
rolling roads can be quite disapointing and you cant compare different days, let alone between different rollers, and then theres the correction factors. The main thing is to compare it with the other cars on the test. I know what you mean, its annoying that they do claim it as a 90bhp kit and in the real world it aint. My old 286 1380 was supposed to give 115bhp but never got past a 100, my current engine is 110 and is bloody quick, much much quicker than my old engine. A mates race engine was supposed to be 130+bhp on the website, and he actually got 122 although the engine is definately quicker than it was with a previous 116bhp.
