Hello,

Thought i would join the other Mini owners here in the Mini section on PH. I've been reading some of the posts on here and it seems like a good place to ask for any advice.

I recently got my first Mini, i've wanted one for sometime and finally picked one up a few days ago and i just love it.

The car started out as a 998cc Mini 1989 Mayfair but now it’s somewhat different from the orginal spec.

1275 Late Mk3 "S" or Early 1275 GT block + 60 thou, EN 16T crank Std sizes and Tuftrided by MED.

1275 GT rods with ARP bolts, ultra-light flywheel with "S" back plate, Orange clutch, uprated Pressure plate, non-Verto. Omega Flat tops that were dished by MED + S damper. Whole lot then balanced. Late "S" or 1275 GT head STD.

Cam is a Kent 286 Megadyne plus an Aldon Red distributor with electronic ignition.

Centre Strap. No Pre engaged starter - it’s the original type that comes with period engine but does have an alternator not dynamo. Twin 1.25" SU carbs + RC 40 one box, fuelled by facet pump and regulator and a 2 core Rad to help keep this lot cool. Added protection is a dural sumpguard.

Straight cut 4 syncro box central pickup and the remote type with CAD quick shift.

Front’s suspension has adjustable Avo’s. + Solid front Subframe mounts.

Here's a few pics...

Hi there, lovely car, sweet engine, but out of pure interest, why have a std head? surely the lure of lots more lovely hp & torque for a few hundred notes is tempting?

The chap i brought it from was going to fit an MED head but had run out of budget, so that's probably one of the things on my list that i would lke to get done.
