My Rover Cooper
Discussion
Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I thought I'd start a thread for my Mini, which I've owned for a few months now. Those of you who are on theminiforum will know me as CCX.
I'm currently 16, and I've loved Minis my whole life. The car is a 1999 MPi Cooper with the Sportspack option, with my ideal spec: Tahiti Blue, black leather and walnut door cappings inside. The car was in excellent condition bodywork wise when I bought it, with very little to do to make it better. The major good point about this car is that it has no signs of rust at all, which is not very often seen on later Minis. Since buying the car, I have:
-Fitted some stickers/badges that were either incorrect or missing
-Added some nice shiny Rover old stock door furniture, and replaced the leather gear knob for a wood one
-Bought an original Mini R660 (Phillips) radio cassette which was fitted from new
-Bought some new brightwork to fit the grille (more will be replaced over time, like the headlamp rings)
-Bought (not fitted yet) a new original gear gaiter
My future plans for the car are:
-Genuine spotlight kit (already bought), with Cooper lamp covers
-Wheel refurb
-Replacement exhaust system (either Maniflow or RC40)
-Some interior bits need replacing (headlining, sun visors)
One thing that attracted me to this Mini, apart from the spec and condition, was the number plate. It features the letters 'AJB', which are shared with Timo Makinen's 1965 Monte winner, AJB 44B. As a tribute to this car and the Mini's rally heritage, my Mini will wear a small number 52 on its doors as well as a '65 Monte sticker.
Here are the pictures, let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions, feel free to comment. Enjoy:

Lovely car - get it waxoyled. First on the list of "things to do"....!!!
Already done, underneath and on the body (I'll do it once a year). Advice doesn't come any better than this for MPi owners though, we all know how the rust can spread if not looked after - especially on the scuttle.Gassing Station | Classic Minis | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
