Hello , Pretty new to PH and never really posted anything ! , Im going to be building a mini soon and have managed to get an engine , so first things first ,

- 1293cc Block

The block seems in good shape as Ive stripped most of it , But.... 3 out of 4 of the bores have small pitted marks and very minor little pieces of rust , so Ive used a small honeing tool in a drill , which has removed the rust but isnt really removing the pitted marks , the engine has lay around in a shed a few years before I got it , so Im thinking of getting a rebore to the next size up +0.40 ? , If youve had similar problems can you please tell me what you did or any advice on what to do with the engine would be much appreciated

- also , can someone tell me the sizes of the rebores in (mm) e.g 1380cc = 73.5mm , cheers Robbie

Standard: 1275 cc
+0.020": 1293 cc
+0.040": 1310 cc
+0.060": 1330 cc

Many people don't like 1380 as it means the bores need to be 'offset' when the re-boring is done and it will be at best difficult and at worst impossible to ever bore again beyond 1380. They are never going to cast any new blocks either.
Best option is to go to the next size up from existing.

Standard bore is 70.6 mm. and 0.040" is 1.02 mm, so adding those, a 1310 cc engine will have a nominal bore diameter of 71.62 mm.

If you want to go much higher it's best to offset bore, a job for a real specialist.

The best person I know is Rob Walker Engineering at Witney, Oxfordshire. Take a look at his web site.
