About time I introduced myself here..

Hi!wavey

I'm Liam, 16 from London.

I got the Mini last November for my first car, it was in good condition, and I just fell in love.

We got it after we put a note on a mini down our road saying I was interested, but after not hearing back from them, we got a call from someone a few villages up from us.

It was a lovely old couple that were selling it, as there health was getting too bad to maintain the. (They had 2 there, mine and a black racer)

We went there to view it and I just loved it, put a deposit down to get it the following weekend.

At it's original home;

Then came the following weekend that I had been counting down and couldn't wait for! Finally my own car!
For a price of £450 of my hard saved money, it was all mine.

On the way home:

I was so glad to get it back to my house. I serviced it, replaced all the fluids and started it.
First time.

Some more pictures.

The powerplant

For now, it is all covered up under the biggest cover, until I buy parts for it.
Plans are;
Respray to red
Wheels to Revolutions 12"
Interior to be completely re-done.
Straight through Exhaust
Possibly straight cut gears
Twin SU Carbs

Next March, it is going to my Mates, Dads MOT garage, where it will be stored and made to be MOTable with my Mate, his dad and I working on it bit by bit.
It needs Brakes, Engine sorting as it is running rough (If it runs).

Cheers!

Looks pretty good, Liam. Apart from the inch of dust on the engine biggrin

If I'm round your area I might pop round and take a look.

Good luck with the work - they're great fun. Just don't get annoyed with it when you lose knuckles or find something fiddly. I think Umpa-lumpas put them together. smile

Already happened haha!

Was putting the carb back on when the little clip (Angel Clip or something) snapped in my hand while trying to put it back on.. resulting on me banging my head on the bonnet..

I should really take the bonnet off when I work on it.

Haha, that's the sort of things.

I always put bonnet pins on my minis - they look st, but it's better than a bleeding head.

Cheers mate!thumbup

Updates will be few and far between for a while though, I've only just started work to get funds for it and I don't drive it until July next year.

Looks great for £450, bargain!

Is it a 998? If so you'll be wanting a 12G295 head sooner or later, let me know when you do!

You want a black leather Astrali 3 spoke wheel for it?

Looks great and I like your plans! What is the rectangular thing sticking out of the grille though? Is it/was it a foglight of some sort?

Just realised you commented back, my bad.

I'll try and convince my dad to let me borrow his bike and I'll come over for the day.

Right, hoping to get it a bit like this;

Definitely decided on revolutions or starmags, will have to have a butchers at both.

The exhaust is currently blowing like a mother ducker. Just an excuse to get a new one I suppose. Narrowed it down to either an RC40 or a twin exit DTM. Anyone have experience with either?

The interior is getting an overhaul. Really liking the Cobra Classic seats at the moment, will see if I can pick up a pair cheap. Will then attempt to find something vaguely similar to the rear bench seats.

So yeah. Start work on the 3rd to fund this so there should be a few updates soon!
