I've owned a Rover Mini Cooper 1.3i now for around a year. It was in great nick when i bought it and still is. Well kept and maintained. However when it comes to the technicalities I am not very sufficient. Lately I've encountered the following problem..: When revving to a high RPM eg 3,500 and shifting from 1st to 2nd when it enters 2nd gear the car begins to shudder until i press the clutch and ease it back out. It does not always do it, however it is becoming a problem of late. Was just wondering if any of you could cast some light and help me out.

Much appreciated.

Andy.

Could be a few things but the first place I would look is the engine mounts onto the subframe and the dogbone mount bushes between the bulkhead and the drivers side of the head.

3500 rpm is not high-revving in a Classic Mini. 6000 rpm is getting up there a bit.
It sounds as though it could be one of several things and not easy to diagnose without driving it.

It's hard to get there for us 90's people!

Thanks Nick will check that ASAP. And with regards to the 3500rpm I should have put 'higher' in hindsight! I do agree. Coul you possibly run through what it could be and I will then strive to tick them off...

Thanks for your help guys

Did you get this sorted? SPi Minis are notorious for air leaks in the MAP sensor pipework, that would have been my first port of call before moving onto anything else.
