Hello,
I have seen people who have converted mini's into trailer. What are the rules and regulations?

Cheers Kieran

I do not know all the regs but I hope this helps.

Number plates and lights are as per car. EG Brake, fog, indicators, lights, nuber plate.

Depending on how heavy it it may need brackes. I do not know what the limit is.

Go to www.towsure.co.uk and order a catalogue. Apart from a very comprehensive pictorial parts list it also contains the regulations on trailer weights, braking etc.

Think you'll find that it is a fibreglass trailer
Friend of mine used to make them
Max at the Toy Shop in Newcastle, long since closed, I'm afraid, but someone else may have the moulds.

My brother and I did the maths on a Mini trailer project about 3-4 years ago - we felt that using a real rear end for anything but a mould buck and development would result in a very heavy trailer and with only approx 350kg's to play with, glass fibre is probably the most effective compramise.

We calculated a cost of around £500 to produce the first trailer but decided that the market/potential to make it profitable probably wasn't big enough to justify the expense financially or in the personal time required?

They do look cool though! smile
