Hello,

New to Minis, looking to buy a classic Cooper or similar for around £3k. Anywhere I can go in Herts, Beds, Bucks, North London?

Thanks.

You might find a rough MPi Cooper for that money, but not a classic Cooper by a long way.

I always wnder about buying a car from someone who drives around with numbers on the doors. "Are they 'boy-racers'?" is what goes through my mind. If not, then why have the numbers?

No, it's not illegal, but if you hold a competition licence the MSA can remove it for 'bringing motor sport into disrepute'.
If you see someone with door numbers, then you know absolutely that he's either a 'boy racer' or at least a bit foolish.

We were initially looking for a Classic Cooper, we saw an RSP but it was not for us. The car is for my eldest, it's his cash and his choice and I think he made a good one. It's pretty close and is suitable.

The numbers represent the birthday of the lady owner, we may remove, keep, replace, don't know yet but will hopefully be able to advise my son appropriately.

It's a geat little car and I'm sure I'll be asking many questions here in days/weeks to come as we get to grips with it. Thanks for you advice thus far...

It needs some little black swastikas to mark each BMW it's beaten away from the lights!
