So as it happends i am dropping the 848cc beast out of the mini and fitting a mildly tuned 1293 (try and find a useable 1275 block!!!) But this is ultimatly to allow the rebuild and modifycation of the original unit. However i want to supercharge it, aiming for 75bhp. The bearings on the cam shaft need to be added too, and a 4 speed syncro mesh might be nice too... I'm looking to keep it period really as an engine so what machine work is needed to give the extra bearing and also lightening the reciprical parts in the engine? Are the conrods adequite? and bearings do they need upgrading?

848 block wher lacking in bearings really both top and bottom, but I understand they are easily rectifiable (+++ cash frown )

thoughts?

With a supercharger, You dont need to rev the engine even if it is only a 850. Soo lightenening is not necessary. Balancing wont hurt engine life, but also not necessary.

Good engine tolerances (piston gap, bearing gap etc) is what You need most.
