So basically i want a completly standard 1275/93 engine built with all the ancillories bolted on. So just drop in, attach electrics and fuel and off we go, I have to do this reletivly cheaply but it needs to be reliable so i want one thats been aprat and re built.

Who would be the best people to do this, bear in mind i only have £1500 or so.....

Assume youre after a reconned engine, not just a second hand one?
Where abouts in the country are you?

What anicllaries do you want included? Thats has to be expensive, swapping over the starter motor, alternator, carb, is a pretty straightforward job.

Do you have a engine already, with all the ancils on? I would have thought taking it to a decent, local engine builder would be best option.

Its a very original 848 magic wand lump.

I'm dropping the whole front subframe and engine off, replacing it with a new subframe 7.5 discs and a 1275 lump.

I have a 1970 850 super delux that is about to become a daily 20mile driver. I am taking the front assembly and going to restore it over a period of time, but i need to take a 70's car and make it live'able and safe pretty quick.

I have the benefit of my cousin coming down for a week to help with the work, the car is nearly completly protected from the underneath, the insides just need cavity wax spraying. He is an absolute whizz at classic car mechanics, I might look at a bare engine and just buy the ancilleries if its actually cheaper, I know its a lot easy going in the top with an angine then from beneath, when its just a bare lump.

But from whom to buy it?

Shopping list so far:

1x Speedwell bucket seat
4x Wheels and tyres
1x Front subframe (see here) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-MINI-COMPLETE-FR...
Internal instruments (I'm having lots!)
New engine and tansmission.

simples....
