Wanted - Help! - JKnight 14 tooth S/c Pinion
Discussion
Basically - as per the title - Has anyone got a 14 tooth Jack Knight S/C pinion languishing away in the back of the workshop/garage. A new one would be fantastic or a very good condition s/h item.
I've just checked my box post race at Donington park and signs of accelerated wear are becoming apparent. Has anyone experience of this and could perhaps give some pointers as to why? Haven't changed oils recently (still on faithful valvoline racing mineral) and the diff is in good condition.
May consider a whole 64 tooth crown wheel and 14 tooth pinion if anyone has new old stock.
WHY? Please drop me a PM if you can help out.... usual suspects... Cooperman... Rich...

once the case hardening has worn away the wear will pick up as the teeth will be getting into the soft core of the gear.
if its a new gear thats worn quicker than an old one, you have to suspect poor quality hardening, or an external problem like the teeth not running in mesh correctly, worn main bearing, worn diff bearings, bent mainshaft etc.
looking at the wear pattern will help decide what the cause is.
you could always mig it up and refile the teeth using a grinder..........
somone has tried this, er, unauthodox, method before, with zero success........
(they then tried to return it for a warrenty................)
