hey guys, hope everyone is well.
does anyone on here have any knowledge/expertise in the tuning of mpi a-series engines ? what can be done to them ? i presume you can chip them but does anybody do a new chip ?
what is possible with them. i did see a red cooper in minimag a couple of months back (the red one with the carbon roof etc) that had a 1312 (?) that had mpi.
or am i just better ditching it and putting it on carbs ?
thanks.

i know a bit about the mpi minispeed do an omex ecu system which is v expensive and not that great but s.r.e are making an ecu for the mpi that red mini with carbon front end and roof and boot is an mpi 1380 i spoke to the owner at brooklands mini show mpis can also be superchiped but the john cooper s mpis are very fast as there are 2 in the portsmouth and southampton mini club not sure about the other tuning kits but soon in miniworld are the results of the bolt on tuning done to an mpi at s.r.e so i cant wait to see that and another good thing is u dont have to worry bout timing the bloddy thing and cooling is good as its got a front mounted rad mines never heated up over half way any other info ill try and answear hope this helps

Well ive tuned my spi to an inch of its life but not sure how different they are!
You can buy whats called the icon super chip which intercepts the signal from the ECU and remaps it.
Clever and allot cheaper than a new racing ecu!

I changed my cam as wel for a fast road injection one which I would of thought would work with the mpi.
Check out my profile for a full list of mods ive done.

Hope this helps and can give you more info if you need it.

i have a k&n filter 2.75 dtm centre back box with cat and standard manifold the cat dose not make any great power losses until the engine is highly tuned i was thinkin bout putin in a de cat pipe but cant be botherd 2 change it back every year for mot's and if i get pulled over and they check my car and find it has no cat makes the mot void then that makes insurence void so i didnt think it was worth that much trouble when u dont notice the diffrence part from itll be louder

RC40 - I had a Janspeed, a Playmini and an RC40 on my S Works and the RC40 was by far and away the best for sound and performance.

Enjoy dude!
