It's time to sell...

...but at what price?
Unfortunately, finances have dictated I may need to sell my 1974 Mini 1000. Problem is, I really don't know how much it's worth. It's done 39k form new, with all receips/MOT's. I've added brand new 7.5 'S' brakes and minifins, and the usual stuff like bucket seats, alloy window winders etc (all of which can unbolted so car can be rturned to original 70's spec). It also has a brand new carb.
Although I've had parts of the bodywork tidied up (inc. Grp 2 arches), it's showing it's age. However, it just needs a speedo cable and the h/brake quadrants freeing off for a new MOT.
Sorry for the long winded post, but your advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Chris,
How's life oop north?
I'll give you £50 for it, just ask Dave to drop it off round at my place.
Not sure what it'd be worth to be honest, pity it's not a little bit older as the tax exempt ones go for a bit more (as do ones that haven't been in ditches ). I would have thought it would be worth around £1500 or so.

Hi Ian
I've just twigged on (via your profile and a large cup of coffee) who you are!
How's things? Didn't know you still had the van (or the Cooper for that matter), as I've been exiled to the wilds of the North East. I'm a slave to the great god IT these days.
The front end is ok - it actually had new wings, valance etc a couple of years ago, but the spray job wasn't the best. I think it could be best described as a condition 2 car, with lots of condition 1 parts!

Didn't think you'd twigged, but you always were a bit slow, guess that's why your in IT now. (Hi Neil)
Still got them both, although the vans not been on the road since 1999, and the cooper since 2001.
Just been buying bits to get the cooper back on the road, and all being well it should be going again by the end of the summer (but don't hold me to that). Then it's time to start on the van (well after I finish my house, but that's a long story), I've got a few bits for it, and have someone in mind to sort the bodywork out. The mechanics and fittings are all pretty much spot on, it just needs the shell sorting, then a new loom and it should be back on the road scaring the nova boys.
How are you coping with the altitude up there anyway?
Ian

Chris,
Whatdyamean easy life? You try drinking tea all day, it's not as easy as it looks. Besides I've changed jobs now into a smaller team where I don't have as many people to delegate to.
Neil,
I don't count the beans, we have systems to do that now, I just have to write the totals down.
Did you ge all your bricks shifted? Got the plans back from the architect so I may need to borrow the trolley soon, well, after the council have decided what we can do (8 weeks).

Actually, I'm not too sure about the neighbours either, but if I build a big enough fence it shouldn't be a problem.
Had a meeting with the architect last night to make a few changes to the plans, added a few feet to the back (who needs a garden anyway) and added a little to the bathroom and an en-suite to the master bedroom, I'll pop round and let you have a look when I get the revised copy.
