Morning all,

I recently fitted a set of negative camber tie rods and bottom arms, all seemed fine until I took it for a test drive up the alleyway on the way to the MOT centre and there was an almighty shuddering as if the transmission was trying to tear itself apart. I'm guessing either the pot joints or the splines on the drive shafts aren't engaging how they should be, am I missing something fundamental that I should have done here or do I need longer drive shafts?

Thanks in advance.

you must have done something wrong, or have a faulty part

no need ever to fit longer shafts in a mini.

Looks like I'll be spending the day underneath trying to figure out what glaring mistake I've made then!

Sorry for the slow reply, I'm not an expert on the different varieties of driveshaft available but we did need to change them when we changed then engine.

The ones before were like this I believe: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Mini-Early-Drive...

And we replaced them with ones that looked like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-MINI-DRIVESHAFTS...

Theese are not prone to fail. Though the driveshaft can come out of the outter cv joint. It is held in place by a circlip inside the joint.

Were the replacement driveshafts new? Worn CV joints make a heck of a din when running at an angle. Maybe the few degress of neg camber is enough.
