Might be stupid question but does anyone know of an off the shelf inlet manifold for 2 X 1.1/4 SU's with water heating and take off for a mark 1 cooper s servo?

Why do you want water-heating? The inlet charge needs to be as cool as possible. The standard cooper 'S' did not have a water-heated manifold and always went well - well, mine does!

I have run minis and alway do not use water heating. on the inlet manfold. On the hole there is so much heat at the back of the engine bay its not required.

Thats something I always thought but during the cold spell in Feb this year it was a pig even after 15 minutes when the engine should have been warmed up it was still a bit lumpy on tickover. I just happened to look in January issue of mini magazine page 97 they seemed pretty sure water heating was an advantage and easily reversible for summer months.

In over 50 years of Mini-ing I've never had a water-heated manifold. My theory is that the colder the inlet charge, the more scope there is for thermal expansion and thus more power, more efficiency and better running.
If it takes a bit longer to warm up, keep the choke on for a bit longer or fit a different stat.

Thank you wise ones, I will put that one on the back burner and look at other reasons for bad cold running, as you suggest, hopefully now not until next winter. thanks again for your replies

Use slightly "richer" set of needles and lighter daspot oil during the winter.

Thanks for the advice. Will try all above, it should cure the winter blues.
