hi just at the point of fitting engine but looking at the carb it has 3 places for the pipes and i only got to pipes 1 to the engine and 1 from the petrol pump i think the carb is a hif 44 can you tell me where the pipes go thank you david

I think the 3rd one is a fuel overflow pipe. You just run a longer metal pipe down to the bottom of the engine bay, joined with a bit of flex fuel pipe.
Alternatively it may be the carb vacuum pipe for vac adv/retard, which you don't need if running a non-vac dizzy. You just balnk it off
On my '64 Cooper 'S' overflow fuel just runs straight down the back of the engine until it hits the exhaust manifold. Now I know why I have 2 big fire extinguishers!

Seem to remember my MG Midgets doing something similar. However there was always the dodgy core plug to blow out and dowse the fire!
