1994 cooper 1.3i wont start or is reluctant to on a cold start, im having to drain the battery and then a boost pack turning over the engine until it decides to fire. The normal reasons that i'm aware of for it not firing have been eliminated, my spark plugs and leads are dry and good (brand new and tested). However after turning the engine over and over my spark plugs remain dry so petrol is not getting though. If i get it going (without running out of electricity) it will run well, it will also start once again first time if after its run... for an hour or two.

An suggestion... im lost.

please!

Check the earth cables, if I remember right there's one in the boot on or near one of the tail lights for the fuel pump which can cause this.

Check the battery voltage after checking the earth's, if you're having to drain the battery to get it to start, it could be over-volting and putting the ECU into over voltage protection i.e. off.
