Which settings are you referring to?
Do you mean static timing, valve clearances, fuel pressure (if you have a Facit electric fuel pump) or something else?
What distributor do you have?

hi,
was meaning a nominal setting for the carbs please, as we will take to rolling road for full set up.
at the moment we have standard dizzy but realise we may need to change it.
we are still on mechanical pump. if we need electric please advise.
we have 3 options for carbs, mg metro 1" 3/4 , 1"1/2 and twin 1"1/4
thanks.

If you look up the recommended needles for your build and fit them correctly that's a good place to start.
Then wind the mixture screw(s) right up to fully weak. Then wind the screw(s) down 14 flats or so. That's a good setting to start with. Once it's started and running get it warm and set the tickover to about 1000 rpm and balance the carb linkage. Then it's time to set the mixture by adjusting the mixture screws. You lift each carb piston a tiny bit in turn. If the engine speeds up it is too rich. If it doesn't change it is slightly too rich. If it slows then speeds up again it is correct and if it slows and stays slow or stalls it's too lean.
This is a rough guide, but should get you to the rolling road.
