Apologies for all the posts, but I am keen to get all the jobs done on the car before my son starts learning to drive in the New Year.
Because the car is in such good condition body wise, I am thinking of lifting the engine out to give the engine bay a proper clean and re-paint. I have worked on Minis and old Austin/Morris 1100/1300 in the past so I know a bit about the logistics of removing and refitting the engine, but it is around 35 years ago with my dad when he used to restore them!
I am thinking that the drive shafts can be released from the stub axle ends at each side and then withdrawn from the gearbox to allow the engine to be lifted clear?
Are there any other tips I need to make it easier. I was thinking of using a hydraulic lifter on wheels so that I can move the engine clear of the car.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

If You would like to paint the engine bay, remove the engine with the subframe.
The car body can be lifted away after unbolting the subframe and some other components (hydraulics, exhaust, gearbox, ground wire etc...) Quite straight foreward. At the end You support the engine/front suspension on axle stands and lift the chassis away - two-men job.
