When I looked at fitting PS to my Allegro Estate the best/easiest I found was the Vauxhall powered column as fitted to corsa's with it's simple design and control boxes available on eBay.

Rover/MG use a similar design on the MGF that is variable depending on road speed and engine speed although I couldn't find anyone who could confirm the viability of making this unit work properly?

There are a number of options but dont forget that the hard part is the setup. You will need to change the help you get from the motor or pump as the speed changes. Mini Spares were looking to make a set up many years ago 10? and even hade a set up on a car but I dont know if it was finished. I think there are programble units avalible but dont know much about them.

You will need to reinforce where the drive motor mounts, they are heavily geared and can easily generate enough force to tear the wheel from your hands.

They had real problems with the prototypes shearing their mounts.

It's not impossible just be aware it's not a simple bolt in job.
