Differences between Cooper, Mayfair and Sprite
Discussion
Hi there, I know this question is probably asked far too often, but I have been browsing through various threads and haven't been able to find an answer. Can anyone tell me the differences (in terms of performance - not trim) between an SPi Cooper, Mayfair and Sprite. A friend of mine said that during the time SPi's were being produced, Rover were chucking virtually any old cam in them off the shelf so some Mayfair's might have had more power as standard than various Cooper's. However, other places say that the Cooper was definitely quicker... which leaves me slightly suspect!
Any info is much appreciated!!! :-)

the sprites used the low compression 21251 pistons and the blocks where a little higher, so didnt have the compression and performance that the coopers (which use the 21253 piston) did.
the engines with the 21251 pistons are far less intolarant of high revs (and higher compressions)and wont take the higher revs before the rings/pistons fail
