For someone who is clearly a car nut , with millions bugeted for cars, and fascinated by the Goodwood Revival ( saw him there swanning around with the drivers! ) I'd have thought he have a tidy MK1S will genuine Downton mods or something, what's £25K to him?? Not jealous much. Hmmpph.
Hi Guys,
I was at the Bonhams 'December Sale' on Thursday Dec 1st 2011.
See: http://www.bonhams.com/eur/carsMBworld/
and all the sale items:
http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/WService=...
I bid (on behalf of a friend of mine) for the Lance Macklin Austin Healey 100 that was involved in that infamous 1955 Le Mans 24 Hours. It went for over 750K !!!
Chris was sitting close by when he bought the 1998 Rover Mini Cooper and I don't remember anyone else bidding against him.
These are the details:
1998 Rover Mini Cooper Saloon
Registration no. S572 MGM
Chassis no. SAXXNNA2EWD153958
Engine no. 12A2LK70 363130
Sold for £8,625 inclusive of Buyer's Premium
and this is what happened to the car:

Quote from his article:
"I did buy at Bonhams. A 1998 Mini Cooper to go with the Sixties one I bagged last month. It’s pristine, with £15,000 having been spent on it."
Here's my foto of him.
