I started a thread a while back asking for advice regarding a MK1 rolling shell I had, and building a race / rally car out of it. Well, long story short it has gone and I replaced it with this. Pictures will follow when it has been pulled out of it's storage and cleaned up:
1971 Cooper S MK3 visual replica. It was built by it's previous owner to compete in the 2007 Jersey Hillclimb where he had a house. Sadly it did not make it to the startline due to circumstances and had been in storage
ever since. Now it's mine...
Genuine Swiftune 1380 with 286 scatter cam and cross-drilled crank. Lots of goodies on the engine, 118.5 BHP at the crank. "S" discs and servo, hi-lo's,
adjusible dampers, fibreglass flip front and panels, Perspex windows, 6-point rollcage, bucket seats and harnesses. 10" minilights and looks at a glance like a boggo black cooper S. Absolutely cannot wait to have a drive of it, got a bit of mild re-commissioning to do. First job is a set of Dunlop SP's to replace the old tyres which have deteriorated.
There are a couple of dyno printouts in the paperwork and the engine looks an animal!
I am planning to just make the interior a little bit more civil with some lightweight carpet and some retro bucket seats ( to temp the wife in...) for now and get a feel for it. But until I get to drive it, I am like a dog with 2 dicks but no arms!!
