I am very interested in buying a Mini. Probably a Cooper as I cant stretch to a Cooper S. How much should a decent Mk1 or Mk 2 - I dont want a concours car, just something standard (I dont mind a few subtle changes) and not a rust bucket which I can enjoy. Is this one priced about right for example (give or take a few hundred quid haggled off)?

It checks out as a genuine, largely unmolested Mk 2 car.

about 4.5k to 6-10k for a mk2 cooper in decent nick.

Mk1 coopers are a special breed, and worth anything from 3k to 25k.

Get a pre 72' mini with a solid shell (any spec) and do a retro fit as they did back in the day.

I'm supercharging a 69' 850cc mini.

Cost me 1500 notes and i have a 95% rust free shell with matching numbers.

I have a 1973 Innocenti Mini-Cooper 1300 Export which I'm in the process of completing the restoration on. It's virtually there and has an absolutely rust-free body. The engine and 'box have bveen re-built and it's 1330 cc with a central oil pick up. Everything has been restored including the suspension with all new bushes, Hi-Lo's, new SPAX dampers, new Falkens on the original 4.5" x 10" wheels. It has a new steering rack and rod ends, new wheel bearings and new brake lines. A new battery is fitted. Brake callipers have been re-built and discs are as-new with EBC 'Green' pads just fitted. It has a new 3-branch original type manifold and new exhaust. The carbs were fully stripped and re-built.
Inside it has the correct biscuit trim with new door cards and new Newton Commercial seat covers and carpets are to be installed.
It has the correct rear lights and headlights are UK-dipping Wipac halogen units with a pair of original Lucas 5" spot/fog lights on new aluminium brackets.
Paintwork is immaculate in Blue Scuro with Bianco Avioro (White) roof.
This Innocenti really is the last of the genuine Mini Coopers with Mk.1/2 'S' spec engine, but based on the 1275GT block with 11-stud head, twin carbs, 510 cam, 3-branch manifold, etc.

Now, I hadn't intended to sell this car, but I've just been offered a 1966 Cooper 'S' rally car which has been stood for many years after the owner died and which needs full restoration and bringing up to FIA Historic Rally spec, so I may need the workshop/garage space and could be persuaded to part with it..
I think the Inno is worth around 11000 Euros or £10500. It will only increase in value, but I would complete and sell to the right person for those sort of figures. it is just a beautiful little car and fully restored.
Anyone PM me if interested in talking about it some more.

I've just heard that there is a Mk.3 Cooper 'S' for sale at what will be a very realistic price.
It's an 'H' reg car, first registered in 1970 as a 1275 Cooper 'S', so it's tax-free.
It was bought off ebay and needed a lot of work, but it has a later shell and a low-mileage 1275 A-plus engine. Running gear is all Cooper 'S' with 10" steel wheels, 7.5" discs, hardy spicer joints, etc.
gearbox is straight-cut close-ratio and 'S' speedo and interior is correct, but a bit scruffy.
It has fully re-con carbs, a 276 cam, LCB, RC40 centre-exit, Aldon Yellow dizzy, 'S' servo, etc. Measured power was 92 bhp at 5800 rpm.
Colour is black and it's rust-free.
It has the potential as a really good resto with little work.
If anyone is interested let me know and I'll pass on the phone number of the guy who would sell it.
