Did BMC ever provide an upgrade kit to the hydrolastic suspension? A car I am considering apparently has the original hydro suspension but also has this supplementary kit (consisting of additional shocks?) Does this ring any bells with anyone. Would this detract from the car? According to the owner it vastly improves the roadholding without losing the feel of the hydrolastic suspension?

bmc sold a kit the allowed the fitment of std shockers to the front, but its something that can be made easily by anybody as there are no special parts.

it stops the 'pitching' movement that hydro cars have and makes them handle a little firmer.

a worthwhile mod that wont detract from the value of an original car

I've driven a couple of Cooper 'S's with the hydro plus the dampers, but both had the up-rated competition displacers. They did feel OK at the time when tested against equivalent 'dry' Minis, but tended to be less reliable in rallying.
