hi would the cam from a 1275 mg metro fit and work in a 998 A+ engine thanks

It should work very well David, especially if you could also get a 12G295 head to go with it.

Mg Metro profile CAM 6648 - is used as the control camshaft in Mini Se7ens. These are 998/1012cc units with a 12G940 (1300cc) head and pocketed block to clear the exhaust valves. This machining operation won't be required for a 12G295 head - but the head won't flow as well.

You'll need a decent compression ratio and induction/exhaust system coupled with a short (4:1:1) to get the best from the cam in a road application. It may even be a bit peaky for a road engine?

They go well... very well and the se7ens see peak power around 8K rpm. 90+ horsepower from a 998 is achievable.

That is very impressive from what a relatively mild "fast road" cam! I imagine the heads are works of art on these cars.
