Hi,

Going to go for a 10' wheel set up, and wanted to ask a quick question. Can I put 10x5 Minilites on with just chrome trim instead of any arches? Really want this look but don't know if they will stick out to much.

Cheers

It depends what the datum offset is. The best Minilite wheels for running with no arch extensions, and it's exactly what I have on my 1964 rally 'S', are the 4.5" ST Replica Minilites as sold by Mini Spares. They fit perfectly under basic wheel arches.

Thanks. Not sure of offset, saw this particular mini in a Feb edition of Miniworld either last year or year before. He had genuine Minilites and were 10x5, but just making sure they wouldn't stick out to much.

anything 5 x 10 will stick out, the only ones that dont are the 4.5 x 10 st wheels, or the much more expensive racing rose petals that are 4.75, but they have less off set.

im sure i read that minilight (the genuine ones) had made some 5x10 with less offset, but the trouble is that the rears of the rears will be so close to the shocker, handbrake cable and radius arm that a 165 tyre will rub with the slightest bit of hard driving - so they are no use really unles you use 145 tyres

Thanks for the advice guys, so if I went for 4.5's I could still use 165 tyres? Oh, and are Minilife's just as good as Minilites?

the 165 tyres will fit fine.

the minilifes look better than the minilights as they are made to look like the classic 1960's wheel with the thick rim and the correct spokes. the modern minilights have pointy spokes and words cast into the rims which dont (in my opinion)look so good.

they are also twice the price and the chrome flakes off the nuts!

Forgot to ask if the Rover Minilites were 4.5 or 5.0x12's??
