I got my mini for a weeks wages 8 years ago. Minis were 10 a penny then. I've still got it and I won't sell it. But just out of curiosity I looked in the classifieds and now minis with no T&T are nearly £1000. Are mental people buying them?

There are so many about. st, tired "needs TLC" cars are over a grand and good models are way more than I thought they'd be. It's not like they're that rare. Whats caused them to rocket in value?

Are they going the same way as old Escorts? How long untill we see £20k minis for sale?

you will find 20K Minis reasonably easy these days already, i think the most expensive i saw was 25k for a fully restored original Cooper S Mk1.

i think its due to many reasons, one being the new MINI, the other being that 'retro' is considered 'cool' plus its probably becoming more desirable as its a great cheap classic car option.

I have two. My orignal Mini 1982 and the latest one a 1998 mpi which I snapped up for £1100. I know they're going up in price, and as my wife says they're better then money in the bank.

I do wonder about these £8-10K MPI's I really dont think they'll sell, or are selling.

Me too, they're surely on the cusp of needing bodywork and spanner time. They're piss easy to work on, but if you want a classic mini I don't know why you'd go for an MPi.

I'm really not in the "scene" at all, but I'm surprised how valuable tired cars are. Not really any different to escorts and LR Defenders though.

Grandson paid £1600 almost 2 years ago for a 1997 MPI. It needed a complete body re-build, but is virtually complete now. We reckon it's well worth over £6k now as it's like new.
The Mini is now a classic car and good examples in original or 'period modified' form will only continue to increase in value as other classics are going up in value.

I have an older one, and the MPI is easier to live with driving it everyday
