decat pipe

hi would there be any pros or cons for fitting a decat pipe thinking of doing it as my cat smells some times
the mini is a 1993 mayfair auto carbed so no ecu fitted would it give or take away any power thanks

But seriously, the smell means your catalytic converter is functioning as it should.

Of course with it being a carb, you can remove the CAT if you like as it is not needed to pass the MOT emmisions test.
For a carb'd car you only have to pass the 3.5% CO test, which is perfectly possible without the CAT.

well got the decat pipe fitted and can tell the engine runns a lot better and getting better mpg from 34mpg upto 39mpg and a big plus is that the MOT emmisions test reading was spot on

if you have removed the cat from a carb'd car its good practice to remove the vac pipe that goes from the dizzy - to the thermostat housing - to the carb as this system is designed to alter the timing to allow the carb to warm up faster.

just fit a std vac pipe straight from the dizzy to the carb and its will run sweeter from the off

i had all ready done that but now it runs alot smoother and cant belive the mpg very happy now
