hey guys! need abit of advice
im currently looking at a few donor shells for my zcars bike engine project. im wanting to save weight by adding fiberglass doors, front and bootlid.
my question(s)
are the single skin boot lid (smoothed) worth fitting?
whats the best way of attaching/opening it if not using a standard mini boot handle?
and would it take the heat from the bike engine being in the back?

iv never fitted fiberglass panels before so have no idea whats best so any help would be great biggrin

i have a single skin boot lid on my car fitted using the original boot hinges and the handle is there as well (it doesnt do anything, you can make a bracket to hold the catch as well, but the lid isnt strong enough to rely on only this to stay shut)

ive used a pair of those bonnet spring type catches in the top corners to hold it shut - it pulls up against a later style seal that goes on the shell.

it does leak a little bit of water in, but not so much that the boot is wet all the time

ok thanks. dose it leak because its not a good fit or will all single skins have that problem? i like how the lads dont it to his green r1 in the latest mini world if youve seen it?

because they are single skin they flex a bit, so cannot pull equally up against the rubber seal.

it looks ok from the outside, but water can dribble in
