What is the benefit or difference with using a water pump bypassing the hose between the pump and cylinder head? Also what does the water pump sandwiching plate? Thanks.

The by pass pipe alows water to the head befor the thermostat is open. Not all A heads have them and I dont know how the water is run to not reqire this. In my mini I used to run a thermostat with hols drilled in it to alow some water to pass and the head had no by pass pipe (Hi power out put). I have seen even more radical water pipe setups on some race minis.

If there is one there I would use it (You can get head in place pipes if it reqires replacing).
