Depends on how you drive it. Anything from 25 mpg to around 45 mpg would be my guess, bearing in mind the aerodynamics of the car - or lack of aerodynamics!

Official Government fuel test figures (Urban/56mph/75mph) for my car were:
35.5/46.8/30.7mpg

A road test at the time gave the average consumption as 33mpg (c.f. 36mpg for the manual Mayfair).

just done a test over the last few days useing http://www.golders.talktalk.net/ and put in £20.01 and got 14.83lts done 110miles all town work gave me 33.72 mpg
my mini is a 1993 mayfair auto 1275

Both of my Mk7 Coopers (1997 and 1998) have averaged between 40 and 45 miles to the gallon over the last 18 months or so (although I have had almost 50 mpg at times). I've been commuting in them, so tend to do a mixture of both town and motorway driving.

t shows how bad the aerodynamics are on the Mini. My 2.5 litre BMW does 35 mpg overall and I don't drive it slowly either. Ah, technology is wonderful.
