starting problem

ok i just got an 1993 mini mayfair auto carbed as standard the car has no engine mods
when i farst got it it started first turn of the key now it takes 5 to 6 turns and only just starts but when it starts and runs it runs with no problems short of some times cuts out when i stop could it be fuel pump letting the petrol drain back or what else could it be

Taking it that it is turning over quickly even on turn 6, dash pot oil level is good. I would start by looking at the spark plugs. If it is not tuned very well and when you got it the spark plugs were new then as you have used the car they have gone down hill? or if you have only been doing short runs.

There are a number of othere things that it could be but that is were I wouild start.
