Replacement Dashboard Buttons

Has anyone changed out their plastic dashboard buttons for the replacement aluminium ones? If anyone has I would appreciate to know what tool was used to remove the original buttons.I had a look at mine last night but bottled it over fear of wrecking the dash surround.

Thanks for that Phil.I had thought about drilling a tiny hole in the button and using a self tapper to draw it off but your method sounds the business.
