Real World MPG
Discussion
Sorry if this is a boring topic, but I've read all the threads on how much or little people have got from a tank of petrol when really trying, but what MPG in reality should be expected from a Griff 500 in typical every day use? (And out of interest, how much better is a 4 or 4.5 litre Ugly Pig {or Chimp for those who don't know the history})
I think the most I have seen out of a tank full in my Griffith 500 was 270ish. The needle was well below empty. When I filled it up I calculated there was just under 1 litre left in the tank. That was mainly UK motorway miles with a few round town and 60 on the A66, where there are hardly any filling stations!!
Coincidentally I reset the trip-meter on my Griff 500 a couple of weeks ago when I was going over to Ghent in Belgium. Yesterday I filled-up and as I had not re-set it since I was able to check mileage against fuel used. So, over the last 550 miles I have got 20.5 mpg. Not that you can do anything about mpg's but it was a good opportunity to check R...
The tank holds 57ltrs or 12.5 gallons
as a ruff estimate - for full to 3/4 full guide in miles per 1/4 tank:-
10 miles = 3.2mpg
20 miles = 6.4mpg
30 miles = 9.6mpg
40 miles = 12.8mpg
50 miles = 16mpg
60 miles = 19.2mpg
70 miles = 22.4mpg
80 miles = 25.6mpg
90 miles = 28.8mpg
100 miles = 32mpg
make of it as you will........
Frightningly mine seems always to be around 50 miles per 1/4 tank but that's what you get through London traffic.
