This is mainly for steve " the bible " or anyone who can help
I have a 94 Griff 500HC. about a year or so ago I noticed the oil pressure had increased to 60psi cold / 30 psi hot (previously 35psi cold / 10psi hot) at
3000revs / 1000revs respectively.
Around this time the engine got tappy on the top
the gauge was changed during service (reads the same)rockers shafts etc all changed - all went quite.still reading high.
4k miles and several trackdays later - its tapping again.
I should add that the tappingt was from the front cylinder left bank last time and appears to be so again!
Is there a chance of oil starvation or more likey a blockage that would give me both syptoms
or even oil pressure relief valve? help !

Dodgy oil pressure readings are usually caused by a dodgy sender not the gauge. If in doubt get a mechnical meter to see wht the pressure actually is. I suspect that the oil pressure is seperate from the other.

Still thinking about the other stuff...

I thought there was a slight tapping coming from the top end of my 500 Griff - investigation discovered it to be the start of some cracks in the exhaust manifolds - oddly enough it seemed more pronounced as the engine revs were dropping rather than increasing - just an idea.

steve
the sender was changed with no change...could be the gauge of course!

Yeah, the manifold gasket is the usual reason for "top end ticking" but this is not the case here ta!
any more suggestions?

If the ticking is not the manifold then I would suggest the camshaft, these are prone to wear if the oil is not changed regularly (3,000 miles).

Change the tyres!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, i put new SO3's all round today then took it out for its curing runs (steve heath) and found that it had fixed the oil pressure
well who knows pressure has returned to it pre probs levels 10 - 40 psi. its been 30 - 60 for 2 years now (with a new sender fitted) so touch wood it will stay that way
