My '92 Griff has been fitted with a Meta 36T2 alarm at some stage replacing the original Gemini.

I'm experiencing some problems with it at the moment, does anybody know a good specialist in the Surrey area for this car/alarm combination alternatively does anyone have any documentation for this system?

I need to know where to start diagnosing the problems with the damn thing!!

Take the car to a specialist as you will need all the help you can get. He should be able to check that there is not a wiring fault but beyond that there is little else that can be done.

Don't be surprised if the alarm has to be removed and reprogrammed by Meta. There is virtually nothing that you can do with these alarms as they are sealed units.

I speak from experience.

Thanks Steve,

I've contacted my local alarm guy - mainly about the siren going off at 3am... but I'll get him to come out and check the system.

Also on the early Griffs should I be able to open the boot and work the electric windows without the key being in the ignition?

Finally (sorry) when's the Griff Bible going to be available again I've been waiting about a week and a half on order from the club.

Thanks

Andy.

The boot can only be unlocked with the ignition switched on.

The Griff reprint was shipped to the Club on Friday so the books should be going out this week.

Ah, might have a wiring problem with the boot then.

Could this be associated with the alarm/central locking situation?

I take it then the windows should work regardless.

Sorry yes the windows should work irrespective. It might be that is the problem but as far as standard cars go I don't think the boot or bonnet is actually alarmed. As your alarm has been replaced, they may have included this. This is part of the problem as the wiring on these cars and the alarm system varied more time than we've seen pictures of Beckham's foot...

The boot has been extended onto the alarm system recently (I think that the Meta 36 immobiliser was added last year to make it cat 2>1 compliant)

The microwave sensor under the centre console doesn't seem to be working also so I'm presuming the original alarm is the problem.

I just had a thought that someone in the past could have bypassed the ignition/boot setup as I know some people find it inconvenient to have to put the ignition key in to open it.

I know all about TVR wiring - I have a 3000M I'm restoring at the moment and the only diagram I have is the sheet floating around that 'may' be representative of a couple of cars in the mid seventies!!!!

Thanks

Andy.

Sorted it out - The siren unit was faulty - probably due to water ingress. (not cheap though but saved the high cost of a new alarm)

Mounted down in the nose cone it strikes me as being a bit open to the elements both form underneath and from the bonnet has anyone tried to furthur protect the siren unit and if so any ideas?

Thanks
