I'm despeartley attempting to get hold of a Griff 500 and have recently come across one in a TVR dealership, however its 4 years old and is now having its head gasket replaced before going on forecourt. Is this common? would this put anyone off?
Any help much appreciated.

I bought mine last year, in Jan, Built in 1996. Had only done 1000 miles in the previous year. Gasket blew on the drive home. It's not that common, but more so with cars that have had little use.

I wouldn't let it stop you buying it. I'd just ask them to confirm in writing that the gasket replacement is purely routine and not as a result of something more sinister that you should know about as a buyer.

Best wishes
