TVR's are not a particulary common site on the roads where I live, but whenever I see a fellow Griffith driver, there is almost always a friendly exchange of waves.
Same applies when I see a Chimeara, an S Series or a Wedge. All 1 big happy family!!
However, whenever I come across a Cerbera or a Tuscan around here, The driver always seems to do his very best to pretend he hasn't seen me!
Today for example, a lovely black 4.5 Cerbera Lightweight, pulled up alongside me in traffic. He was dead level with me and we were both at a standstill. Did he wave? No, In fact he didn't even look at me.
It's not like my car is easy to miss! It's bright yellow for christs sake!!

It just seems that on this site, everybody is friendly and full of advise and help, no matter what model they drive. On the roads around here however, it's as if the 'cheaper' TVR's don't exist!

End of moan!

I suspect it's because a lot of the owners of newer models are new to the marque and simply don't recognise the older cars. How many pistonheads could tell the difference between a Grantura and a original Griffith without looking in a book?

I get that in my 'S' sometimes too. Probably some anally retentive tw@t! (They remind me of the Harry Enfield sketch 'My car is significantly better than yours!')
I have to say however, by far, the majority of TVR drivers seem to be a friendly bunch infact I recently had the pleasure of a very enthusiastic couple who nearly fell out of the windows of their new Cerbie they got so carried away. Made my day that, must be Pistonheaders!!!!

You're not alone. I got my (no sniggers now) 911 turbo 2 back today after having up-rated suspension fitted. Saw loads of Porkers on the way back and everyone waved. How nice I here you say. Well I had obviously got complacent. I like you, rolled up to the lights a long side a newer 993. Looked across and nodded. Guy just looked at me as if I was a loon. He had that 'you're in a old car, why the **** are you looking at me in my much newer car' look. What he hadn't had chance to observe was the small but informative inscription on the back. Had he looked closely he would also have seen the 2.5k Techart sports exhaust.

Well he got plenty of opportunity there after. W*nker.

I've noticed it more in London.

I was dropping a friend off in Souaaaff London, commenting on the general TVR commardary (sp) (he's an SS car driver). When loan behold, we stopped next to a nice shinny new Tuscan at traffic lights, then followed him for about a mile (dual carridgeway). I was waving like buggery. Not a sniff from him.

I guess since Tiv's are expensive and fast, all the twaty city boys buy then as a change from a porker or SL (huh, then whine about reliability, but I won't go there).

We used to wave at other Cerbera,s and flash but got blanked most of the time,so it must be something to do with the drivers .Maybe they feel there in a different league to other TIV drivers!Sad!

The closing speeds of Tiv's might have something to do with it!! I always try to wave but when you pass at 180-200mph, there's not much reaction time. I wave at anyone in a British sports car, particularly rag tops, but usually get blanked.

The area that you are in also relates to this topic, the majority of Surrey areas will snub you, as the snob factor is large as life in these areas (not all I must add)I wave at anybody with the taste to drive something: old / TVR / Fun / Different as long as they're not sheep. Incidently, I have just been out for a ride on my bike, and got reminded of the lovely comaradarie between bikers

Last Sunday, out in my S2 , down here in deepest DevonI met a tuscan, top down, big wave, flash of lights etc. As a new owner I was v impressed by the "TVR family". Long may it continue..

I dunno, I live in London, drive in Tuscan & generally get (& give) a wave or flash of lights. Like a lot of Tuscna owners, I have had other TVRs before (V8S & Griffith) & so recognise most of them.

Of course, it could always be that people are concentrating on the road rather than other drivers!

I've flashed the lights at all the other Tiv driver's I've seen since I picked the Tuscan up on the 1st. So far, been flashed/waved back.

Usually flash rather than wave, as its easier to do in a hurry, and I love showing off those mental HID lights...

Most TVR owners do tend to flash and wave back, and some of them even flash and wave at me first..

I know for a fact that some of the city guys only have it for the pose factor, one of 'em didn't drive his car very often cause it was too fast (from the horses mouth) but there are still plenty who are enthusiastic about the marque

Mk1 MR2 owners wave too if you are in one, wave at 'em and see...

Passed a council truck on Saturday - he flashed the orange lights on his roof as I went by. Hooted madly at a relex green Tuscan in Sheffield yesterday - got a sort of acklowledgement, but I think he thought I was a bit mad!

So far, not been flashed by Mr. Gatso, nor Mr. Tax-collector-traffic-cop - plenty of time though!!

In London so far I've had a wave back from Chim drivers (usually, but the girls seem to wave more than the boys) a wedge driver and a Cerbera driver.

However most of the Cerb drivers and all the Tuscan drivers I have seen just ignore you.

Maybe they are concentrating so much its hard to sort out waving back, or perhaps they are just ignorant, who knows.

Same thing happened with Minis though, it used to be I got a wave from every other Mini that had been cared for, then they bring out the sport pack cooper and make it accesible again, plebs buy them, they dont know the score and thats that. Oh, and dont even get me started on the new Mini!!!

I'm not revving you up, plotloss, but I really don't like the new mini at all - I don't care how solid and trendy it is - the buying philosophy will become similar to the beetle, the poor man's Audi TT (style, not performance)
