Sorry Griff owners I’m sure you won’t want to know but I received this from my local dealer the other day.
Dear Ian,
We spoke before Christmas about Griffiths, with a view to taking your Impreza as a part-exchange. I am just dropping a note to enquire on the situation, and to let you know that the MD has just taken £3000 of all Griffiths that we own!! This brings "R" reg cars down to £19995!!
If you are still in the market, please call on 0121-344-3400
Regards
Iain Vann
Glad I didn’t buy that M reg £20595 Griffith 500 2 months ago ‘cos I’d be sick to find out now that I could have had it for £17595.
This seems to reflect the state of the current used car market generally. I decided to keep my 4 year old Impreza Turbo to use as a main car and buy back my old S3 from my Uncle for £7000. After being used for two years on a daily 80-mile round trip commute my Uncle decided the TVR had to go. Problems with an iffy clutch cylinder lead to a new gearbox (£1000 including service at HHC) and this plus a water pump failure and an intermittent loss of power (suspect air flow meters) were the final nail in the coffin. The S3 had been up for sale for 6 months at progressively reduced prices with little interest. I know the car well and have fond memories of it including a trouble free run to the south of France via the Alps. So the plan is to sort out the little problems it has picked up in the past couple of years and use it to drive to work when the mood takes me and possibly a few sprints at Curbourough.
Not a good time to be selling a TVR but a great time to buy (depending on how low they go)
