I have this immob/alarm fitted in my 96 griffith but have no instructions that make sense, ithink the one in log book are for the previous meta alarm.
Does this alarm have sensors if so where(i cant see any) and this alarm is quiet when arming/disarming just the flashing indicators and doors locking etc.
But i armed it with the keys in the ignition and then unarmed it and it made a load of noise?
After doing this a left the car arming now with noise aswell but when i returned the next morning no noise just back to how it was before,so im curious to what i had done and also is this cat1/2 alarm/immob??
Any help appreciated

For what it's worth.........I have the standard alarm on a Ye Olde 4ltr Pre Cat and the alarm never makes a sound on arming if it has been raining or the car has been washed, when it is dry it makes a small pipping sound. Trust me, every time, without fail, but the alarm still sounds when wet if it's set off???? Don't get it, but there ya go. As far as I am aware most Griffs have a microwave sensor under the centre consol, by the handbrake, could be wrong of course.

I had a Foxguard alarm on my '95 Griff that was factory fitted. It never made a blip when I armed or disarmed it. Thinking about it I think it had 2 buttons - one of which would arm it silently, the other would do it noisily...

It IS NOT Cat 1 tho. I tried to get insurance and they wouldn't accept it as it was not on any current list of approved devices. Norwich Union used to accept the TVR alarm as a Cat 1 but not anymore I hear.

You can get an up-to-date list of approved alarms / immobilisers from Thatchams website. I sent a copy of the relevant page off to the ins co along with a receipt for the immobiliser fitted to my car and they were ok with that. The list will also show if it is one that has had the approval rescinded.

Does the alarm horn work? They are sited in the nearside front wheelarch and have a habit of collecting water. Once fully drowned they rarely come back to life. I had to replace the system in my 96 Griff.

TVR Centre in Barnet gave me a load of guff about the battery connectors in the remote unit being welded in so when they fail you need a new system. When you do need batteries for the Meta remote, just open it up and put in a new one.

Not sure if this helps, but any info on TVR fitted alarms is useful IMHO.

Sipow, by a load of noise, what exactly do you mean? If you mean several loud beeps, then my alarm system does this to indicate a fault i.e a door isn't shut properly!
Normaly though, it makes no noise- just 2 indicator flashes when armed, and 1 flash for unarmed!
Not really sure what make it is, as the unit has no details on it, but the remote has a single button, with TVR written on it!

Hope this helps
