Was wondering if anyone can recommend a good cleaner for said wheels.....already on my second toothbrush and was hoping for some light relief! A M8 mentioned that I have to be carefull what type of cleaner I use as the OZ wheels don't have any protective finish or something like that?

Cheers for any help

I use Cif Bathroom Mousse (Lemon) on my OZs - not too harsh and leaves them gleaming - and cheap too!

Yep,that type of house hold product works well, once clean just make sure you wash them regularly with a strong solution of soapy water.
The high street wheel cleaner stuff will damage the bright anodised finish of the rims, so dont use.
These wheels are getting difficult to find in good condition now.

Once you have cleaned them try putting brake dust protectors on. Some people suggest not to use them as the brakes can overheat but I think this is crap unless you are using it for track days and I guess you would have a spare set of alloys if you did.
I used them on my Taimar for 7 years and on a Chimp for 12 months with no problems - the Chimp had OZ Multi spokes.
They are around £15 a pair and will save you this in time on the first clean.

Someone (an alloy wheel specialist) told me that once you've got your wheels clean, spray them with Pledge, or other silicon based furniture polish, and brake dust will just hose off, not stick at all.

Not tried it and not got OZs, but if someone wants to try it and report back?

I have enquired about getting my OZ's refurbed.
It aint cheap,to get them done properly means spliting them.By rights this means new bolts and possibly seals.
At one place I was quoted nearly £800....

Now you mention it I think I've been with someone when they were talking about this at a meet. I was only half listening but I think they have to go to approved refurb shops because there's some tool or brace required that isn't available unless you're an approved dealer. Seem to think an £800ish figure was discussed then as well.

Tower View have the appropriate tools to split them. Might be worth giving them a call.

I believe that NHyde got his OZs refurbished earlier this year for approx. £100 each - look through past threads for more details.

I've done some research here. These companies will refurb the Oz split rims - www.rimzrefurb.co.uk & a company called A1 wheel renovation in Wolverhampton, both quoted approx £450 to refurb a set which included re-sealing and new stainless bolts etc. Having mine done soon but don't know which one to use, anyone familiar with them?
