gearbox and diff drain

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the gearbox and/or the diff on a Griff can't be drained, but only topped up.

My 92 4.3 has a drain plug for the gearbox and the diff...so surely they can be fully drained and refilled?

Is it only the T5 and/or the later diff that can't be drained?

I've drained my SD1 gearbox and refilled. Didn't cause me any problems.
