High Level Brake Lights
Discussion
New to Griff ownership and enjoying every mile.
Have always been in two minds ref. high level brake lights ( cause of many false tail backs on M'ways ? ), however on v. wet / dark journey back from work earlier this week thought they do have a use.
Has anyone thought about these for the Griff ? - perhaps something sleek could be made in an LED light format and put just behind the rear edge of the boot without fouling the hood and messing up the rear end.

Hmm, it should be fairly easy to put together a water proof, and thin strip of red high intesity LEDs that are mounted on the outside of the hood just above the rear window. Then it would be a case of running some thin wires to the rear brake lights. However this would only work when the hood was up.
Another idea would be to use the same device and mount it in the junction where the hood meets the back of the car, near the rear hinge of the boot. If it was thin enough (10mm)it would fit and be discrete, and would only be seen when the cars brakes were on.
Just some thoughts.

If some one can host the picture then I'll put it up .... otherwie everytime I try and do it from webshots it screws up ...
Gaffer,
2 x cases of the stuff is still sitting in my porch waiting for the next trip to Blackpool .... is there anyone going to BTaP I could give it to so that it would get to you or your dad ?

How about wiring two LED's into the roof supports?? a bit like Tuscan rear brack lights but smaller.
Chances are the hood would be down on good clear days so not much to worry about. and then viola when up the leds are there..
The supports are hollow to so no probs running wires up them.
Mr D.Beer any ideas of course i have just patented that idea aswell

Well today i put together 15 5mm clear Red LEDS in a row and tried them in the very top middle of the rear screen. You can not see them when looking in the mirror and can only see them from outside if you get real close up and peer in. And guess what, there is already a piece of "velcro" there to attatch them to, whats that for ?. So, yes you can have high level brake LEDs, but they will not be visible when the roof is fully down. Edit to say. on the inside of the screen.

A relatively new item on the market within the motorbike world is a row of brake LEDs that can be stuck anywhere(usually helmet)
The really clever bit is that they are remote controlled, they come with a new led light bulb that sends a signal to the strip to light it.
I dont remember them being too expensive either, maybe less than £50
