I've just been quoted £747.30 (inc VAT) for a clutch replacement by a TVR specialist. Is this a fair price? Could a non-TVR specialist do the job? I'll spend the money if I need to - just want to get a better idea of what's involved etc..

I had my clutch replaced at Westover Sports Cars (main dealer) for about 450 quid. Cheaper than everywhere else, inc. independents.

I'd recommend ringing around. Make sure you check you're getting the whole clutch kit (plate, release bearing, etc).

And that you are not getting a Rover SD1 clutch that lasts about 5 minutes but a proper one of which many types have been fitted.

Does anybody have the actual manufacturer and part number for the "proper/non-rover SD1" kit that Steve refers to? My Griff is a '91 4.3.

The best method is to take it out and see what was fitted. There should be a part number somewhere.
Sounds crazy but is the best way of making sure you get one that fits.
