Gone in 3.1 Seconds
Discussion
Impressive stuff for a *car*.
What sort of numbers are we talking for the cars you lot drive?
ie, my car 0-60 is over 12 seconds, hardly any records set there, but what about a Cerbera or Griffith?
What cars am I to look out for, when prowling the streets on the bike?
See you out there, somewhere.
Ted, do I have your permission to add your site URL to my next numberplate? it would be a cool way of getting more exposure to the site.. and let you guys know it's me at the lights !!

I know a bloke who drives a SAAB 900 that is road legal and will hit 60 in 1.96 seconds and no that is not a miss print, interested?.
No contest. My old metro would do 0-60 in about a quarter of a second. All you need is a big enough truck doing 60 mph. Repeatability *might* be an issue though.
Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)

If it's the one i'm thinking of, it really is that quick!
Check out this picture! It doesn't look much- a real sleeper, with something like 508ci under the hood!

Thats the one John Sleaths SAAB 900, 502 cubic inch big block Chevy V8 foreward mounted Latham supercharger custom built fuel injection, fully mappable, and twin stage fogger nitrous oxide injection system makes 1250Hp!!.
I remember a bloke with a big mouth and a new Skyline at a RWYB at York dragway declaring that none of the cars there could touch a Skyline and seriously annoying the marshalls and everyone else, until one of the marshalls gave John a nod and made sure he was in the lane opposite.
I remember the look on the Skyline drivers face when John did his burnout, result not too shabby 13.4 1/4 mile for the Skyline, knackered old SAAB 9.4! one very quiet Nissan owner for the rest of the day.

How is it on corners?
Not as bad as you would think, the engine is so far back in the chassis that you can only see the pullies sticking out from under the bulkhead when the bonnet is open, so good weight distribution and it does not run huge drag racing tyres.
I have seen it on the road and although you would not discribe it as nimble it holds it's own quite well.
His last car handled better, an Alfa 75 on low profiles
still using the 5 speed transaxle but powered by a 4.5l
Rover V8 with quad Webber's and 200hp worth of Nitrous for good measure!.
Hmm I thought the Saab 900 was front wheel drive?? If the engine is mounted a long way back to the centre of the chassis, either he has created a rear wheel drive vehicle or used perhaps a very strong (hewland, quaife) transaxle and drive the front wheels. In which case if it was FWD he would never have the traction to do those times. I thinks the car might be on a custom built chassis with just the Saab body panels added to it, or some serious panelbeating work has been done to create a RWD vehicle. Also that does sound very fast for a set of street tyres? Are we not talking about 0 - 60 kilometres per hour and not miles per hour ??
The SAAB has been converted to rear wheel drive by intergrating a box section chassis with roll cage into the SAABs existing structure as it retains the front suspension and brakes from the SAAB but uprated to cope with the extra weight.
The rear axle is an American Ford 9" locker with Strange shafts located on a four bar setup, and yes it is 0-60 MPH not kilometers but the time was set on slicks and not his usual road tyres.
