Within the next 3-4 months I will upgrade my 500 with new cams, plenum chamber, trumpet, mark adams chip. Does anyone know whats the best Sports exhaust to go with this little lot, thinking now of the 218 cams.

Did the same to my Chim 500 2 months ago apart from the hot cams. Looked at the sports exhaust too, Tim at ACT reckons the sports rather than the super sports exhaust is best.

The difference the upgrades made to mine were amazing, so with the cams yours should be a proper stonker

Are you going for the carbon upgrade chamber? I went for the Ally base plus enlarged ally plenum chamber as funds would'nt stretch to the carbon system

Mark Adams is a top man he will recommend changing the air flow meter for one with a higher flow rate, plus changing the coil for a Bosch one if yours does'nt already have one. These are well worth doing.

Other things I did to mine were changing the HT leads to Magnecor ones (smother running), and putting on a K+N air filter with smooth bore inlet pipes - Tim (ACT) does a complete kit I think.

Hope you enjoy the process (and the results) as much as I did

Thanks all of that sounds very appealling. I was intending to go for the carbon kit, not sure on the number of throttle thingys as thats seems a bit confusing. Judging by the additinal bits and pieces you mentioned earlier such as air flow meter etc I may have to cut corners based on cost and go for the ally kit instead. What was the overall cost including rolling road of your little lot??

If your after a custom fitted stainless system give Mark Winger at Mr stainless 01473890952 a call

he made me some 2 into 4's for the pre-cat which has tamed the rather loud barking and it now has a much more enjoyable burble, more v8ish.

Evening

The cost of all the bits was around £1100, and the cost of the rolling road was around £500 including Mark Adam's time too.

What sort of cost is the cam coversion?

I believe the cams are a cost of about £390 for the two. Fitting price I havent found out yet but I guess its going to be a few hundred, I will budget for around£500 unless I hear different.

Only one cam, average fitted price would be upwards of £600 + vat, most TVR specialists will do this.

Cost for a cam change from V8 developments is £650 plus VAT. This is based on their MC1 hydraulic cam (218-ish), includes new tappets and lifters, and can be done without removing the engine from the car.

A re-chip and rolling road with Mark Adams is recommended if you change the cam from standard, at a cost of £400 for the chip, then about £300 for hire of the rolling road and Mark's time.

Pete
