Time to expose myself !! - have returned to the fold for the third time after puchasing a beautiful Griff 500 a couple of months ago.
Just wanted to say a very BIG thankyou to PH - the threads are very very helpful !! - have even managed to fix my glove box catch (read the thread about squeezing the wings apart on the female black plastic thingy - used a small folded piece of 'post-it' note).

I have fallen in love all over again with Griffs - had a rogue new one in 97 which caused a lot of heartache - then proceeded to spend a lot of money looking for another car that could create such a feeling of excitement and failed !! (except the Cerbera 4.5 but wasnt really very practical for commuting)

Now use the Griff daily commuting in and out of London - the journey in is fantastic as 6am is well before the traffic - not so good on way home but so far she has been very tolerant.

Looking forward to a longer lasting relationship this time with what I consider to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made!!!!

Intrigued... having test driven a 4.5 cerb, I found it a lot lighter to drive than my Griff and would have thought that it would be the better commuting car by quite a way.

Oh... and welcome back... a '97 you say? A particularly good year for the Griffs I believe!

Hi,
I've not been a member here for long myself but in that time I have received some excellent help from everyone. Funny enough the glovebox catch was my first project, oh what a bar stewerd that was.

Welcome back to Griffs and PH.

Welcome back aboard!

Where's the piccies?

And what did you learn from your "rogue" Griff? Not asking for a bitching session, but I am sure that many of us are interested in people's experiences and how to deal with any "challenges" that come along in our love affairs!

In reply to Burriana500 - the Cerb 4.5 was a glorious car and one I should never have sold - but she was sold before Ken made commuting in a car actually much easier (not sure that was what he intended !)- so when I referred to the Cerb not being very practical for commuting, I suppose what I really meant to say was that at the time I felt I didnt have a choice and had to sell her for a car that might cope with the traffic.
In comparing the two cars however, the suspension 'comfort' (if that is the right word)and the more laid back engine, combined with being able to run around topless in the summer and the heavier fly-wheel for traffic crawling would still, and has, lead me to choose the Griff over a Cerb in a post Ken world.

At the end of the day though, it's a spoilt brat of an investment *anker that makes too much of a fuss over having to choose between the two !!!

A few remarks for Beano 500 on the 'rogue' Griff

It was a very sad story - just about all of what I now understand are the rather frequent events on the Griff happened - the overheating, the alarm locking me out of the car and eventually going beserk (a Meta problem ,not a TVR problem !!), the glove box catch, 3 new speedos, and to cap it all - a mad 70 year old woman in an automatic mini who smacked in to my rear end not once but twice !!

What have I learned from this ?? - that I still adore TVR's in a way that I find difficult to explain. And that PH has been invaluable to me in making me realise that it is possible to use TVR's regularly and live with them.
